We've finally passed a constitutional amendment to the Illinois income tax code in both chambers of the Illinois State Legislature. This will allow us to put a referendum on the ballot, which will ask voters to decide if they want to amend the constitution from a flat income tax (everyone pays the same) to a graduated income tax (higher earners pay more than lower earners).

This historic vote is due to years of organizing from grassroots organizations, unions and progressive legislators. We now need to leverage that same coalition to reach voters in Illinois before the 2020 General Election.
