Illinois PIRG Students Fall 2020 Internship Application

A semester of rewarding experience to gain grassroots organizing skills while working to get out the youth vote in the upcoming elections.

Illinois PIRG Student’s Internship Program is designed for college students looking to increase experience in political organizing and civic engagement. Our program provides interns with opportunities to build leadership skills in grassroots organizing, while working in the community on a variety of service and education projects.

Interns will work remotely. Given the remote nature of the internship, students taking part in digital learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic can still apply and be considered for the position.

The New Voters Project:

On Election Day, young people will be the largest and most diverse group of potential voters. Especially in the wake of ongoing changes and barriers due to COVID-19, Illinois PIRG Students is running a non-partisan voter mobilization effort to make sure students make their voice heard on Election Day.

Responsibilities include:

  • Gain firsthand experience into the campaigning process
  • Sharpen your communication skills by working with the media
  • Learn to develop and run an effective campaign
  • Gain experience recruiting and working with volunteers
  • Learn to build a coalition and work with coalition partners

Apply today and an organizer will reach out to schedule you into an upcoming information session.

By providing my contact information, I am consenting to have the Student PIRGs, and their affiliates contact me with information about this and future campaigns.
