I'm Sticking with My Union
The Supreme Court just dealt a huge blow to working families, ruling 5-4 in the Janus v. AFSCME case. Today the U.S. Supreme Court turned their backs on workers to side with the wealthy and powerful who have spent hundreds of millions who want to destroy our union and take away our ability to speak up for our patients and our professions. The decision today in Janus v. AFSCME overturned a precedent that for more than 40 years had recognized the ability of unions to collect “fair share” fees. This is an attempt to break HPAE, and every other union that provides a voice for workers in the workplace.
As we continue our fights for transparency and job protections within the Rutgers-RWJ Barnabas partnership, protection for University Hospital, and fair contracts for our public employee members at Rowan University, Cornerstone , and Rutgers, we must stand united against those that would like to silence us.
The backers of this case and their conservative counterparts have been spreading misinformation and anti-union propaganda around the Janus case in the workplace and at the homes of our members through paid-canvassing, mail and phone calls. But we’ve been engaging our members in one-on-one conversations about what this case would actually mean for our workers, and what we’re hearing is a re-commitment to the union and what we stand for.
Union members, and our allies, please sign this pledge that you're sticking with the union.
