Let’s finish the investigation into Trump’s foreign ill-gotten gains

Former President Trump has reportedly pocketed at least $7.8 million from 20 foreign governments during his time in office.

It’s a flagrant violation of the Constitution's Emoluments Clause.

Details of Trump’s foreign funding schemes were documented last month in an alarming 156-page report from Democrats on the House Oversight committee.

But it may be just the tip of the iceberg: These reported sums include transactions related to only four of over 500 business entities owned by Trump and thus likely represent a mere fraction of the total funds he received while in office. Unfortunately, House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) failed to complete a comprehensive investigation into this matter — leaving crucial questions unanswered and the job unfinished.

That’s where you come in: Violations of the Constitution cannot go unchecked.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), the Ranking Member on House Oversight has helped get us this far, but we’ve got to keep pushing. As the powerful Chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) can complete the investigation and do more to require Trump to forfeit any ill-gotten gains to the U.S. Treasury.

The good news? If he hears from tens of thousands of activists like you, who believe in justice and accountability, he’s more likely to do it. Call on Senator Peters to take immediate action: It’s time to fully investigate the foreign funds Trump received while in office and require him to forfeit any unconstitutional payments to the U.S. Treasury.

To Senator Peters, Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chair:

An explosive report from Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability details multiple instances where President Trump accepted millions of dollars from foreign governments during his time in office. Unfortunately, it’s far from complete and more action is needed to ensure accountability and justice.

I urge you to fully investigate the foreign funds Trump received while in office and require him to forfeit any unconstitutional payments to the U.S. Treasury.

Signed,
