Let My People Vote! Jews for Amendment 4

Jews know what it means when a government says you don’t count – that’s why we support restoring the eligibility to vote to 1.4 million Floridians.

As Jews, we know how dangerous it is for everyone when our friends and neighbors are silenced. Right now there are 1.4 million adults who cannot ever vote in Florida again, including more than 10,000 military veterans and 1 in 5 African-Americans.

It’s
good for everyone when Floridians who have fully completed their sentences return to society. It strengthens our democracy, boosts the economy, and reduces recidivism. The amendment specifically excludes individuals who have committed murder or a felony sexual offense.

Jewish tradition recognizes the power of atonement, because a person’s whole life should not be judged by one mistake. It is only fair that those who have paid their full debt to society should have a chance to return as full citizens to participate in our democracy.

We want a Florida we can be proud of. Right now Florida is one of only four states with a lifetime ban on voting.

Jews know what happens when you deny the vote pledge to vote YES on Amendment 4.
