Mitch McConnell and Kelly Ayotte vowed to obstruct the constitutional process and block any Supreme Court nominee put forth before we elect a new president.

This year, a split Supreme Court will decide cases on a woman’s right to choose, immigration, and voting rights. With so much on the line, we can’t afford to stall over partisan politics. Senator Ayotte’s decision to put her party leaders ahead of our country is a reflection of her priorities and how broken Washington has become. This is not leadership.

The goal of the government should be to serve the people, not obstruct progress in order to score political points with party leadership. Mitch McConnell and Kelly Ayotte’s decision is a complete abdication of the Senate’s constitutional duty.
