Climate Action California is both a community of volunteer climate advocates and a coalition of like-minded groups and organizations, working together for a just, equitable, and speediest-possible transition to a low-carbon future for California and beyond.

As a coalition, we aim to add value to our partners' work, amplifying all of our voices in Sacramento and Washington D.C.—working together to pass important climate legislation, advocating for the policies we need, providing training on legislative processes, and developing materials we can all use to educate both volunteers and decision makers. While we work together, partner groups make their own decisions about bills and policy positions.

Partner groups include nonprofits (501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations) and groups without nonprofit status. Our 501(c)(3) partners do not join in candidate election work.

Climate Action California, established in fall 2022, was formerly the legislation/policy team of 350 Silicon Valley. In 2021 we were joined by Climate Reality chapters from around California, adding to our statewide volunteer base and coalition. We operate as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization. The Climate Action California Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation. Our website and mailing list are shared by both groups and supported by the (c)(4).
