Let's Replace USAP with a Model That Supports Our Purdue Fort Wayne Community

The members of the Purdue Fort Wayne chapter of the American Association of University Professors believe that shared governance is central to the ability of a comprehensive university such as Purdue Fort Wayne to serve our community, uphold our academic mission, and provide a public good. In recent years, the administration of PFW has weakened our ability to do these things by departing from shared governance and making sweeping cuts to academic programming using the University Strategic Alignment and Prioritization, or "USAP," metrics.

We're calling on Chancellor Elsenbaumer to support an end to USAP metrics and work with faculty to establish a new model that promotes three fundamental values of student learning and success: diversity in academic programming, curricular innovation, and cooperation across units.

Here's what you can do to support:

  1. Sign and share the petition.
  2. Ask your department, local campus group, or community organization to sign our petition.
  3. (Faculty) Read and endorse our PFW senate resolution. More information HERE.
  4. Read and share our one-pager on USAP
  5. Visit and bookmark our PFW AAUP chapter PAGE, which has information about past and future meetings, our current officers, and other resources .
  6. Attend an upcoming AAUP event:
    • AAUP chapter meeting: January 27 (Mon.) KT G46. If senate runs over from Jan. 13, we will move our meeting to February 3.
    • Happy Hour: December 13, 2019, 3-7 pm, Old Crown Coffee Roasters on N. Anthony
