Who: We are the Extinction Rebellion, a Non-Violent Direct Action campaign born out of the UK Rising Up! social movement. We now have support internationally and we aim to coordinate our efforts to create a debate on why we are allowing our rulers to neglect the dire climate emergency.

Why: We are in an ecological crisis. The latest reports from the UN indicate a future of worsening drought, floods, extreme heat, and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. We are out of time, and carbon emissions continue to rise. We are holding our governments responsible for neglecting the climate situation and driving us towards catastrophe. There is no greater crime than to fail to act.

Our demands are as follows: (1) Governments tell the truth about the ecological emergency (2) The government must enact policy measures to reduce emissions to net zero by 2025 and (3) The emergency mobilization of the economy and society will be guided by robust democratic participation.
