Tell Your Representative To Pass The RHA In Illinois

Despite electing the biggest pro-choice majority in Illinois in 2018, some Illinois representatives are refusing to protect the women of Illinois by passing the Reproductive Health Act (RHA). The RHA is the only thing that can protect women's reproductive rights in Illinois from the anti-choice extremists trying to overturn Roe v. Wade.

If we don't pass the RHA before Roe v. Wade is overturned, reproductive health restrictions will be enforced - and some procedures and medications criminalized. The RHA does away with the laws on the books from the Illinois Abortion Act of 1975, like:

- Requiring spousal consent to obtain abortion care
- Requiring doctor consent committees to approve an abortion
- Restrictions on certain forms of birth control, like the IUD
- Mandatory 24-Hour waiting periods for abortion care (the only procedure in Illinois which would require waiting periods)
- Banning assisted reproductive techniques, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Doctors facing numerous criminal penalties for performing abortions

Anti-choice state legislatures across the country are passing unconstitutional laws to prepare for the fight to bring down Roe. We are seeing state after state trying to introduce bills that would not only increase the health risks for pregnant women and deny them access to reproductive healthcare, but several that would criminalize abortion itself. We have to make sure that Illinois will remain a pro-choice state, where access to reproductive healthcare is a reality for ALL women in Illinois and the Midwest.

Thank you for joining us in supporting the reproductive rights advocates and leaders who are leading this fight! Add your name to say: "We will never go back!" Join us in asking our representatives to take moral leadership and protect women's right to make decisions about their own bodies and lives.
