Make 2 Calls To Pass A Critical Packaging Reduction Bill in NYS!

Call to help NYS cut packaging waste in half, reduce climate change emissions, protect environmental justice communities and more.

Time is running out! Please make two critical phone calls today to urge your state legislators to pass a critical bill to reduce single-use plastic packaging by 50%, cut climate emissions, get 19 of the most toxic chemicals and substances OUT of packaging, and give recycling a big boost.

1. Call Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie's Albany office at 518-455-3791 (if you can't get through, try 718-654-6539) When someone picks up, use the slightly modified script below:

“Hi, my name is ____ and I am calling from ____, NY to urge Assembly Speaker Heastie to support A5322-b, the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act, and bring it to a vote this session to reduce packaging waste and climate change emissions, boost recycling, and protect environmental justice communities. Passing this legislation is one of the key recommendations in the scoping plan for the state's Climate Law and we cannot wait to act on climate. Thank you."

Thank the person for taking your call. They may ask you to verify your address, etc.

2. Then hang up and call Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins' Albany office at 518-455-2715 (if you can't get through, try 518-455-2585). When someone picks up you can use this short script:

“Hi, my name is ____ and I am calling from ____, NY to urge Senator Stewart-Cousins to prioritize passing S4246-b, the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act to reduce packaging waste and climate change emissions, boost recycling and protect environmental justice communities. Passing this legislation is one of the key recommendations in the scoping plan for the state's Climate Law and we cannot wait to act on climate. Thank you."

3. Once you've hung up, please take a moment to fill out the form on the right to let us know how your calls went -- a very important step!

Thank you so much for helping to stem the tide of plastic pollution in New York State.
