Make 2 Quick Calls To Cut Packaging Waste by 50% in NYS!
Please make two critical phone calls today to urge your state legislators to pass The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act, a critical bill to reduce plastic pollution, packaging waste, climate emissions and toxic chemicals, and give recycling a big boost. Hurry! The legislative session is short and ends on June 6.
1. Dial the Senate Switchboard at (518) 455-2800 and ask to be connected to your Senator’s office. If you’re not sure who your Senator is, click here to look them up.
When someone picks up, you can use this short script:
“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Senator to please support The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act (S4246-b) and demand that it includes a 50% reduction in plastic packaging over 12 years - anything less would be ineffective. I hope the Senator will put people over plastic by demanding the 50% reduction target stays intact and voting yes on the bill.”
Thank the person for taking your call. They may ask you to verify your address, etc.
2. Then hang up and dial the Assembly Switchboard at 518-455-4100 and ask to be connected to your Assemblymember’s office. If you’re not sure who your Assemblymember is, click here to look them up.
“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from YOUR TOWN/CITY. I’m calling to urge the Assemblymember to please co-sponsor The Packaging Reduction & Recycling Act (A5322-b) and demand that it includes a 50% reduction in plastic packaging over 12 years - anything less would be ineffective. I hope the Senator will put people over plastic by demanding the 50% reduction target stays intact and voting yes on the bill.”
3. Once you've hung up, please take a moment to fill out the form on the right to let us know how your calls went -- a very important step!
Thank you so much for helping to stem the tide of plastic pollution in New York State.
