Build It Here: stop sending jobs offshore!

We're calling on the NSW Government to manufacture locally and stop outsourcing projects and work overseas.

To date, NSW Government has sent the following projects offshore:

  • Intercity trains
  • Suburban trains
  • Metro trains
  • Tram carriages
  • Buses
  • Ferries
  • Uniforms
  • IT, phone, data and accounting services

They're even importing overseas steel for some major construction projects!

The NSW Government says they need to offshore to save money, however a report by The McKell Institute found that sending just four manufacturing projects overseas - intercity trains, suburban trains, metro trains and light rail carriages - saw NSW miss out on 4,192 jobs and $484 million in lost taxes.

Overall, local manufacturing actually makes more more financial sense for the NSW Budget - the problem is the NSW Government is only looking at the short term price and not the long term benefits of local jobs, employment and local taxes.

Add you name to to support local jobs and call on the NSW Government to reverse their offshoring policy.
