Town Hall Takeover: Dylan Alcott to hear from youth activists
Young people with disability often find themselves fighting against broken systems, trying to make their voices heard when few are listening. But a new movement of young people with cerebral palsy are gearing up to change this.
Come and join us on Tuesday June 21 at 5pm, as a group of young activists with cerebral palsy launch this exciting new push for change.
The ‘Town Hall Takeover – Young advocates paving the way’ will be a platform to showcase the voices of young people living with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities. And we want you to be there.
We’ll be joined by the Australian of the Year, Dylan Alcott, who will listen to and help to elevate the voices of our young CPActivators as part of our movement for change.
We know that systemic policy change is needed to reduce the barriers in education and improve access to the employment system for young people with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities. But does everyone truly understand what’s really going on? What’s working and what isn’t? Where should our leaders start?
The lived experience of young people with cerebral palsy will be at the centre of these discussions as we pave a better way forward for the employment system. And that’s what this takeover event is all about.
The event will be facilitated by Elly Desmarchelier, a disability rights campaigner living with cerebral palsy.
We encourage everyone to come along and join us in what will be a very exciting, captivating event with the wonderful energy of young people who are fighting for change.
