Midland Road and Greyfriars litter pick, Sat 24 Sept

Your local councillors taking part in a previous litter pick

With so many take-aways selling food, and so many people from outside the area walking through, the Midland Road and Greyfriars area has a real problem with litter. We've been able to get the council to pay extra attention to parts of the area, but it is a real problem for them to keep on top of the problem, even in the places they concentrate on.
While we had a successful litter pick in the area, many asked us for the next one to be on a Saturday. We have now organised one for Saturday 24 Sept, 11am meeting at the Woolpack Hub, Commercial Road (by the roundabout at the Commercial Road/River Street junction). Litter picks are a really positive way to help make the area look better, and really help generate community feeling, in an area that needs extra community feeling more than most.
Please let us know you are coming! If we get a good clue how many people are coming, we can make sure there is enough equipment for everyone!
Parents and carers: please do bring children along with you - if they are old enough to take part, we will provide them with a litter picker too! You are still responsible for their safety, so please make sure you supervise them.
