Native Organizing Training 2018
The 2018 Native Organizing Training will be held September 9-15, in Wisconsin on the Menominee Reservation. The training is geared to Native leaders and organizers, who seek to learn skills rooted in Native traditional practices and wisdom to organize community power for transformational change. Applications are due by August 9. Space is limited and unfortunately not all applicants will be accepted. Acceptance emails will be sent August 11.
Tribal leaders, community organizers, staff of native-led nonprofits and tribal entities are all encouraged to apply. We encourage applicants from across North America to apply from rural, reservation or urban communities. The training draws on the practices, experiences and history of community organizing and community building in Indian Country.
This unique 6-day intensive workshop designed and led by the Native Organizers Alliance explores Native traditional organizing principals, campaign planning, the strategies and tactics of community-led policy change, and how to realize the power of community to shift policies and practices to move towards full sovereignty. The sessions are all conducted through the lens of our Native inter-tribal cultural traditions.
The training is free for participants. Cost of housing, transportation and most meals are covered by the program. Participants are responsible for additional costs. Space is limited to 20 participants.
Programs, groups or individuals who can contribute to defraying the costs of this training will provide the opportunity to go beyond 20 participants.
APPLICATION DEADLINE is August 9. ACCEPTANCE emails will be sent on August 11.
