MORE DETAIL:

In 2018, C4D passed a new law to expand access to institutional financial aid for college for undocumented students in Connecticut! Starting Spring 2020 undocumented students will be able to get financial aid at CT public colleges and universities. This was a result of 6 years of advocacy by CT Students for a Dream and undocumented students all over CT!

What is institutional aid? “Institutional Aid” are grants/scholarships by colleges and universities for college for students who have financial need to help pay for college. We call it “institutional aid” because the aid money comes from the college institutions themselves and is funded by tuition money, not funded by taxes, the state, or federal government.

The new law, called SB4, created a new and fair application for institutional financial aid for undocumented immigrant students that does not discriminate based on immigration status, it equalizes access to institutional aid at all public colleges and universities in CT, including the University of Connecticut (Uconn), the 4 Connecticut State Universities (WCSU, ECSU, SCSU, CCSU) and the 12 Connecticut Community Colleges.
