NYC-DSA COVID-19 HOUSING SURVEY
Like few moments before it, the COVID-19 era has laid bare the profound inequities of New York's housing system. While Governor Cuomo acted swiftly to buoy homeowners and landlords, he has brazenly ignored the state's millions of tenants and thousands of homeless.
NYC-DSA and our coalition partners in Housing Justice for All are organizing around a simple set of demands: that rent be cancelled and the homeless be housed.
We have real political momentum: more than 85,000 people have signed our petition, AOC and Bernie have endorsed the campaign, and legislators across the state are lining up behind the core demands. But it's Cuomo who we need to sway, and he remains unmoved.
If Cuomo doesn't #CancelRent in the coming weeks, the housing coalition is prepared to launch a rent strike on May 1.
To know how NYC-DSA can participate in these escalating tactics, we need to hear from you. This survey is designed to help us better understand exactly how the COVID-19 crisis is affecting the NYC-DSA membership at large.
