Yes to open borders. No to border controls.

Border checks have been imposed in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Slovenia, and Sweden.

We demand the immediate end to internal border controls within the Schengen Area. These controls undermine freedom of movement, one of Europe's most significant achievements, and negatively impact everyday citizens, students, and businesses. Let’s stand together to preserve the unity, cooperation, and freedom that the Schengen Agreement represents.

These border controls are supposedly for our safety, but are expensive, and stretch our national Police personnel too thin - and away from delivering the critical work that we depend on. In fact, this actually puts our safety at risk.

Unfortunately, the issue of security is often lumped together with migration to score cheap political points. But both challenges require their own solutions. To increase our security, we are working towards a European army and better cooperation between national security services. To manage migration better, Volt wants a European distribution law, more legal routes and a focus on good integration that will benefit us all.

If we do not use migrants and refugees as scapegoats, but instead invest in the people who come to Europe, we open the door to enormous opportunities. We desperately need their knowledge and extra hands to continue to innovate and meet the challenges of the 21st century. For the staff shortage in healthcare, for building houses and for the energy transition. With the current shortages in the labor market, we simply cannot solve these challenges. Volt is working on progressive plans for sustainable, human solutions throughout Europe.

Our Demands:

  1. Immediate Removal of Border Controls: Restore the Schengen Area's borderless integrity.

  2. Freedom of Movement for All: Ensure freedom of movement for all member states.

  3. European Solutions to Migration : Address migration challenges with comprehensive European responses, such as distribution laws, more legal routes, and a focus on good integration
