During the covid crisis, we know women have been through a series of pandemics: a pandemic of job loss, child care closures, and food insecurity. In the first few months during the pandemic, the number of Americans who did not have enough food to eat spiked from 8 to 30 million. Since the start of the covid crisis, seven million Americans have enrolled in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and experts estimate a 15% increase is needed to support the food relief program to combat hunger in the United States. Americans deserve another social and relief package now, the HEROES Act. Please click here to sign the HEROES Act to ensure a stimulus package to push emergency aid for working families.
In the spirit of the holiday season, we encourage our members and supporters to take our pledge to provide meals to a person or family in need. Please feel free to email CLUW's communications associate, Afnan Adam, at aadam@cluw.org to share how you have participated in Project Holiday. On social please feel free to add #CLUWgives hashtag our social media handles @CLUWomen (Facebook) and @CLUWNational (Twitter and Instagram) when taking photos.
Thank you for reading and your kindness to give during the holiday season.
