Pledge to Protect our Coast
Through upscale, luxury development, hotels like Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach have damaged our right to the coast.
We support the work of the California Coastal Commission in protecting our shores, and we realize there is much more work to be done. We ask the Coastal Commission to take all possible action to ensure the Surf and Sand Resort is held accountable for its impact on public access. Our coast is our most precious resource and public access must remain a priority.
The Coastal Commission and general public must take an active role in assuring all approved development plans remain consistent with community values, display a sensitivity to neighborhood needs, and comply with all regulations created to preserve our coast.
I stand with working class Californians and demand that hotel developers be held accountable. I vow to support efforts to keep public beaches accessible and preserve worker’s right to the coast.
