HOURS: 8-10 hours per week for Directors, flexible for Policy Officer roles dependent on work, life, commitments etc

Democracy in Colour's policy team is looking for:
- 1 x Policy Co-Director
- Multiple Policy Officers

Who is Democracy in Colour?
Democracy in Colour is a national racial and economic justice organisation led by people of colour. We are run by volunteers who make campaigns that tackle structural racism, empower people of colour to shape policy discussions that affect our lives and build the capacity in our communities.

What does our policy team work on?
From Marriage Equality to religious discrimination to fairer employment laws, our policy team oversees Democracy in Colour’s policy, political and legislative work to advance racial justice outcomes. This includes:
- Policy and political strategy
- Develop and implement our policy and research strategies
- Oversee and guide our political positioning
- Provide policy advice and analysis to Democracy in Colour team members
- When relevant, draft and coordinate input to policy submissions and position statements on issues relevant to our campaigns
- Support Campaign Directors with developing the policy and political strategy for their campaigns
- Deep passion for racial justice and a world where the inherent worth and dignity of everyone is recognised
- Understanding of racial justice theory and the politics around race/racism in Australia
- Excellent analytical skills and who are details oriented
- Are an independent and self-starting with a resilient, solutions focussed approach and an open mind
- The ability to take and give feedback well - always tells the truth about performance
