POLITICO has published a special report which revealed that the Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, Democrat Rep. Richard Neal (MA-01), is involved in what appears to be a corrupt influence campaign by corporate interests through his son, Brendan Neal.

The report revealed that Brendan received $196,340 from his father's campaign and secured significant business contracts from tax lobbyists who had vested interests in legislation under the purview of the Ways and Means Committee, which is primarily responsible for all matters relating to federal taxes. The appearance of corruption goes further as clients of these lobbyists were successful in securing direct wins through Rep. Neal’s legislation, including tax deductions for trial lawyers and tax breaks for specific insurance contracts.

Republicans want to extend Trump’s tax scam next year, and when they do, Democrats need to be front and center in opposing and exposing their billions in giveaways to corporations and the ultra-wealthy.

If they want to succeed, they cannot have their Ranking Member on the Ways and Means Committee be a poster child for corruption.
