Right To Read Screenings

The Right to Read and the Freedom to Learn.

Literacy is the greatest civil rights issue of our time.

All children deserve to experience the joy of reading and to have the freedom to learn and connect with books in which they see themselves represented no matter their color, background or where they live. Michigan Education Justice Coalition believes that literacy is the civil rights issue of our time.

The Right to Read Film serves to build awareness for evidence-based reading instruction, support culturally relevant curriculum, and to push back against threats to limit inclusive curriculum.

Now you can host a screening of the groundbreaking documentary “The Right to Read” and share the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
