National Carers Week - Share Your Story

This National Carers Week Caring Fairly wants to hear from you! Raising awareness is a vital step in growing community support and creating positive change for carers. We know that right now many people in the community don’t know what it’s like to be carer. To help us change this we’re asking carers to share their experiences so we can amplify their stories and make sure their voices are heard. Will you share your story with us today?

The COVID-19 outbreak has shown us just how much work still needs to be done to make sure carers get the recognition and support that they deserve. We know that one way we can achieve this is to make sure more people in the community support carers and stand with us as we push for change. But first they need to understand what being a carer is all about. We’re calling on carers to answer a few questions through this form. We’ll then choose a selection of these stories to share on social media and the Caring Fairly website throughout Carers Week from 11-17 October and beyond.* The stories you share may also be used in our ongoing advocacy work. Will you help make sure everyone knows what life’s like for carers by sharing your story?

If sharing your experiences has raised issues for you and you need support, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. For carer specific support you can also contact the Carer Gateway Hotline 1800 422 737 or Mind Australia’s Carer Helpline 1300 554 660 if you are a mental health carer.

*note that stories may be edited for length and clarity.
