Sign if you agree: Florida's voter restoration system is broken

1.7 million Floridians with a prior felony conviction can not vote. That is one 1 in 10 Floridians! This is unacceptable and has to change.

Florida is one of only four states that takes away someone's ability to vote for life if they are convicted of a felony. And if they apply to have their ability to vote restored, current Florida law dictates a long and difficult process that requires the direct personal involvement of the Governor and the Cabinet, even after the individual has paid their debt to society.

This has dire consequences for the 1.7 million people who can't vote in Florida. Reentering Society is difficult no matter what state you live in and Florida is one of the toughest. The laws that make it that way are written by elected officials who don't have to worry about ensuring the safety and well being of a person who has paid their debt to society and wants to contribute to it, because those affected by reentry laws can't vote.

The Floridians who are affected by reentry laws should have the ability to vote for or against elected officials that write, uphold and have the power to change them.
