ExxonMobil, the world's largest oil company, has known about the dangers of climate change for decades. Internal documents have revealed Exxon's private research exposed the connection between fossil fuels and climate change in the 1980s. Instead of coming forward with their research, they buried it and then spent billions promoting climate denial.

We can't let the oil industry continue to gaslight us. People around the country, particularly in low-income and communities of color, suffer the economic consequences of crushing energy burdens and poor health outcomes from toxic fossil fuel pollution. Meanwhile, Big Oil's been funding deceptive propaganda to discourage the public from taking action on climate change, while their private research shows that climate change is a reality.

Much like the tobacco industry ignored evidence that smoking causes cancer, Big Oil has consistently downplayed climate change because it threatens their bottom line. Exxon is putting profit above an existential threat to the planet, climate change. We must denounce Exxon and the fossil fuel industry for lying to the public about climate change.
