Donald Trump and Jeff Sessions want to use the Civil Rights division of the Justice Department—which enforces affirmative action laws—to roll back progress on civil rights.

They will investigate and sue universities that they believe have discriminatory practices against white applicants, and are actively recruiting right-wing lawyers to do so.

Supreme Court precedent has upheld the constitutionality of affirmative action, and the country has benefited from more inclusive higher education institutions.

But the Trump Administration now wants to use Justice Department resources to attack affirmative action. We cannot stand for this.
