Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) called for a “national divorce” between red and blue states. This isn’t the first time Greene has called for another civil war. Her rhetoric is dangerous, to say the least.

Even worse, Greene is a member of the House Homeland Security Committee–a committee that forms policy for and focuses on the security of the United States. Greene has just publicly endorsed the dissolution of the United States. Rep. Greene has no place setting policy for our homeland security.

House Leader Kevin McCarthy assigned Greene committees in 2023 claiming she has changed. She had previously shown support for calls to execute high-level Democrats–this got her removed from committees in 2021.

Yet, here we are again. Awarding Rep. Greene committee assignments that require the consideration of all Americans and the assurance that treasonous statements would not be wielded against half the country.

We have seen the GOP cower to Rep. Greene’s tantrums in the past. This cannot be ignored. Rep. Greene must, once again, be stripped of committee assignments on the basis of her extremely harmful rhetoric.
