Sign the Petition: No New Fossil Fuel Infrastructure!

Right now along Louisiana’s coast, fossil fuel polluters are currently expanding export terminals and pipelines an attempt to make America produce more fossil fuels than any other country in the next decade.

The biggest culprit of this fossil fuel expansion is “liquefied natural gas” (LNG) shipments— from the Gulf of Mexico are by far the biggest source of that growth.

To anyone who knows Louisiana, the idea of putting facilities that exacerbate the climate crisis in a place where hurricanes are growing ever stronger is ludicrous. These LNG projects are slated to be built in mostly poor communities of color―exactly the sort of thing that the Biden Administration promised to stop.

Just one of the newly proposed LNG terminals would be responsible for releasing 20 times (!!!) more greenhouse gas emissions annually than the Willow project oil drilling pipeline in Alaska.

LNG terminals are dangerous not just because of the emissions from burning gas. Methane leaks at the sites combine to make LNG as dirty as coal! Building new fossil fuel infrastructure, when we already know the danger to our global society, isn’t just irresponsible. It’s gobsmackingly bananas!

We can’t allow for more fossil fuel expansion as the climate crisis continues to worsen and impact our communities.

Fight the climate crisis! Sign our petition and demand the Department of Energy reject any new LNG faciliites!
