Sign the petition: No government shutdown, again!

Yes, the threat of a government shutdown still looms large, with severe consequences for millions of Americans. While a temporary deal was reached to avert a government shutdown in October, Congress only has until November 17 to pass yet another funding bill–or the government will shut down. Extreme House GOP members ousted Speaker McCarthy and replaced him with MAGA right-wing extremist Mike Johnson, who's already demanding tax breaks for the rich. The likelihood of the House passing a bill to continue funding government operations remain in doubt.

A shutdown would result in furloughs for federal workers deemed nonessential. Those considered essential would work without pay. Programs like the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) would be paused, affecting low-income families. Federal programs, including Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, defense spending, veterans’ benefits, public health, federal law enforcement, federal interest payments, and more could be at risk.

Congress had months to fund the government and didn't. We will not stand for American jobs and benefits to be disrupted due to in-fighting.

Don't let political disagreements result in a government shutdown that affects us all. Sign the petition to urge House members to find a long-term solution.
