GOP state legislatures are expanding taxpayer-funded subsidies for private schools, making it much more difficult for students who are not accepted to private schools to receive a quality education.

Private schools are not required to adopt statewide curriculum, assessment, or performance standards for all students, including those with disabilities, thereby disadvantaging those students.

School vouchers take funds from public schools and gives them to private schools, reducing state resources for public services and increasing racial and socioeconomic segregation within the education system.

Studies show vouchers rarely benefit low-income families. Further, they can lead to budget deficits and layoffs in public schools.
