As of September 19, 2023, South Carolina seems poised to resume executions, forcing prisoners to choose between being fried to death in the electric chair, shot to death with a firing squad, or poisoned to death by lethal injection. While the legal community will do everything possible to keep executions from resuming, it is time for South Carolinians to organize. South Carolinians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (SCADP) is a nonprofit organization with a mission of abolishing the death penalty and catalyzing criminal justice reform in South Carolina.
