We'd also like to know a little about you - why you care about this issue, whether you're involved in any groups, and if you have a specific village in mind that you'd like to advocate for! It would be good to know what your level of familiarity with social media is, too. Rebuilding Alliance will not share any of this information with anyone.

There’s good indication that Google and Apple, and even Waze, will add the hundreds of missing Palestinian villages to their maps. Now is the perfect time to start a social media movement to build momentum and support. We invite you to become a Village Advocate for up to five Palestinian villages!

We call the movement #HeresMyVillage

Our goal: to assure every Palestinian village their voice — and their future — so let’s start by connecting every village in Palestine (about 850 villages) with a Village Advocate. We are asking you because you care. We’re also asking Palestinian villagers, young and old, men and women, to join as Village Advocates too.

Here’s what it will entail:

1.     Post a message every day to your favorite form of social media including the name of one of your villages. Do you use Instagram? Go for it! Facebook – that works! Is Twitter your passion – yes! Use the social media you’re most comfortable with.

2.     In your messages, put a hashtag (#) in front of the Villages' name so a conversation can develop, and be sure to tag GoogleMaps, Apple and Waze by using the @ sign.   Include #HeresMyVillage and #MapPalestine in your message too. Start by posting this message for each of your villages:

"I care about #VillageName @Google @Apple @Waze #HeresMyVillage #MapPalestine"

3.     Use the Organizers' Discussion Board to share what you are learning and to learn more from mentors and other Village Advocates including the villagers themselves.

For our part, here’s how we’ll support you in this glorious campaign:

·     Upon receiving your application we’ll assign you the names of five Palestinian villages (yes, we'll try to assign your favorites and also some that are new to you)

·     We’ll provide coaching. What does that mean?

A.     We’ll invite you to an organizers online discussion webpage where you can write your questions and also share your ideas with other Village Advocates

B.     We’ll invite a team of experts to host video conferences so that everyone can learn more about social media advocacy and learn more about about the challenges their  villages are facing

C.     We’ll update you with the latest news about how this movement is going

D.     We’ll build a team of mentors to be sure that every question asked gets an answer, and also to make sure our private discussion group stays safe and polite and is a good use of everyone’s time.

E.     And we’ll talk strategy about how to respond to trolls.
