Support from organizations that serve or care about children living in poverty can help pass the legislation to make their lives.

I understand that the campaign will:

• Lift children out of deep poverty by increasing the RI Works monthly payment to 50% of the federal poverty level. The monthly benefit for a family of three would rise from $721 to $1,036. The benefit would be adjusted for future years to keep pace with inflation.
• Eliminate full family sanctions which falls disproportionately on parents who have significant barriers.
• Eliminate the five-year waiting period for Legal Permanent Residents to qualify for the program, a waiting period that was only introduced in 2008.
