Stay in touch to stop high carbon sponsorship and advertising from fuelling the climate emergency

Deals like the one between Shell and British Cycling announced in October 2022 allow major polluters to ‘sportswash’ their image. The Badvertising campaign is teaming up with people who are passionate about sport, clean air and athletes’ health and well-being, such as the Cool Down network, to stop our favourite clubs, events and tournaments from being used as a billboard for polluting interests.
Some of our activities:
- Publishing a ground-breaking report 'Sweat Not Oil' into the extent of high carbon sponsorships in sport by oil, gas, car and airline companies.
- Inaugurating the first annual 'Bad Sport Awards' award to highlight the worst examples of sportswashing by major polluters.
- Working with sports personalities, athletes and fans to grow the movement.
