Protect ALL Arizona Families and Pledge to Oppose HCR 2060 this November 5.
The 144,000 U.S. Arizona children who are U.S. citizens and their undocumented parents who apply for or are currently receiving public benefits such as emergency AHCCCS and WIC may stop seeking care due to the fear that it could expose their parents to felony charges and risk potential family separation.
Arizona taxpayers will bear the cost of millions of dollars because the proposed legislation, as written, has many flaws that could lead to multiple lawsuits from the federal government.
Law enforcement will be compromised to make very difficult judgments, they will be required to make judgments based on appearance, language proficiency, and other unfair calls to enforce this resolution because how would they know if a person entered the state through a legal port of entry? This can put in jeopardy family separation of long-term undocumented Arizona residents (84% living in the U.S. for 5+ years) and 13.1% of foreign-born residents of Arizona who will be highly vulnerable to the broad probable cause provision that could create a climate of fear and distrust among the entire foreign-born population, affecting both documented and undocumented individuals.
An estimated 59,000 Dreamers under the 2023 Dream Act and 20,750 DACA recipients as of September 2023 face significant risks due to increased scrutiny and a broad probable cause standard. Without immediate documentation to prove their port of entry and residency in Arizona before the law's enactment, they could be wrongfully detained or deported. Additionally, the DACA-eligible population, who do not have DACA protections, are even more vulnerable to these risks due to the lack of any legal protections or status.
By pledging, you will be voicing your opposition to HCR 2060 and joining in solidarity with Arizona children of undocumented parents, Dreamers, and hard-working immigrants who contribute daily to making Arizona a more prosperous place.
