Support Collective Bargaining Rights in Portsmouth, VA

City of Portsmouth Employees: Standing Together, Making a Difference

Every day, Portsmouth city employees work hard to keep our community strong and our families safe and secure. Our work is too often overlooked and undervalued. Public service workers across Virginia make 18% less on average than private sector employees. That’s why Portsmouth city employees are uniting for a voice in decision-making on everything from pay and benefits to transparency in promotions and improvements in the quality of services.

Virginia is one of three states that limit public employees’ ability to bargain for improvements at work. The state legislature is considering legislation that would allow city and county employees to bargain collectively, which would result in a binding contract, giving us a true voice in decision making.

Sign up to support collective bargaining in the city of Portsmouth so that we can make improvements at work that would benefit us all, our families, and our communities.
