Sign on in support of the NTEU’s lawsuit to stop the Trump Administration's illegal shutdown of the CFPB

Over the weekend, Elon Musk tweeted “CFPB RIP” not long after Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought's gave Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency complete access to internal infrastructure, including employee information and other sensitive data.

Vought issued a directive also halting all work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and announcing his refusal to accept its next funding disbursement from the Federal Reserve.

In response, the National Treasury Employees Union, which represents employees at the CFPB, has filed a lawsuit to stop Vought, Trump and Musk from interfering with the Congressional mandate of the bureau.

Fortunately, the courts have blocked the Trump administration’s illegal actions before, temporarily keeping Musk from gaining access to the Department of Labor and indefinitely stopping Trump’s attempt to end birthright citizenship. But these victories may be temporary, making our voices in this fight critically important!

Sign our grassroots amicus brief to support the National Treasury Employees Union’s efforts to block Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought's directive halting work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and his refusal to receive its next disbursement of funding now.

Amicus Brief text:

To the Honorable Court,

We submit this Grassroots Amicus Brief in support of the lawsuit brought by the National Treasury Employees Union to block Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought's directive halting work at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and his refusal to receive its next disbursement of funding.

His actions reflect an unlawful attempt to thwart Congress's decision to create the CFPB to protect American consumers.

As concerned citizens, we have a vested interest in the work of the CFPB protecting consumers from unlawful banks, predatory lenders, and other institutions intent on scamming and ripping off consumers.

We believe that the actions of Director Vought are a clear violation of federal laws passed by Congress, including establishing the CFPB’s funding. We urge the Court to recognize the importance of protecting the laws created by Congress and the Constitutions’ separation of powers between the branches of government.

By signing, we affirm our support for the NTEU's lawsuit and our opposition to Director Russell Vought’s assault on the CFPB, the rule of law and our Constitution.

Signed,
