Immigrants make up a significant portion of the essential workforce, like agricultural, janitorial, and health care workers, which keep our society and economy going. Without access to driver’s licenses, immigrants are limited to travel via public transportation to and from work without the possibility of social distancing -- making them one of the most vulnerable populations amidst the current pandemic. To put it quite simple: Everyone deserves the opportunity to go to work to provide for themselves and their families without putting themselves and others at risk. Immigration status should not be a factor.

Here are some ways you can get involved this year:

• If you're interested in helping to ensure that immigrant essential workers are able to travel freely and safely by allowing anyone, regardless of their immigration status, drive? Sign-up to attend a virtual phone bank and/or to email your legislators in support of the Work and Family Mobility Act
• Do you have a personal story about facing the unjust and unnecessary barrier to safe transportation or have you supported someone who has experienced this barrier? Let us know and someone will follow up with you!
• Are you an avid social media user and support the Work and Family Mobility Act? If so, tell us why you support this bill on social media by filling out this! Someone from the coalition will follow up with a branded template document you can use! Make sure to tag @DrivingFamiliesForward on Facebook and use the #DrivingMAForward on all your posts!

Los Inmigrantes constituyen una parte importante de la fuerza laboral esencial, como los trabajadores agrícolas, de limpieza y de atención médica, que mantienen en marcha nuestra sociedad y economía. Sin acceso a licencias de conducir, están limitados a viajar en transporte público hacia y desde el trabajo sin la posibilidad de distanciamiento social, lo que los convierte en una de las poblaciones más vulnerables en medio de la pandemia actual. En pocas palabras: todos merecen la oportunidad de ir a trabajar para mantenerse a sí mismos y a sus familias sin poner en riesgo a ellos ni a otros. El estado migratorio no debería ser un factor.

Aquí hay algunas maneras en que puede participar este año:

• Si está interesado en ayudar a garantizar que los trabajadores inmigrantes esenciales puedan viajar libremente y con seguridad al permitir este tipo de licencia de conducir,  regístrese para asistir a un banco telefónico virtual y / o enviar un correo electrónico a sus legisladores en apoyo de nuestro proyecto de ley.  
• ¿Tiene una historia personal acerca de este tema del transporte seguro o ha apoyado a alguien que ha tenido esta experiencia injusta? ¡Háganos saber y alguien le hará un seguimiento!
• ¿Eres un usuario ávido de redes sociales y apoyas la ley de licencia de conducir para inmigrantes?
