Take ACTION to Modernize the Bottle Bill!

We are in the final stretch to get bills passed this legislative session and need EVERYONE to call their legislators as well as members of the committee and leadership using the script below. The bottle bill expansion passed as an amendment to the Omnibus Climate Bill (S.2838) in the Massachusetts Senate. We now need to put pressure on members of the MA House and Senate asking them to urge the conference committee to keep the modernization of the Bottle Bill in the House Climate Bill.

Please TAKE ACTION TODAY by doing the following:

  1. Contact YOUR senator and represenative using the script below. Find their phone number and email here: https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator
    • Sample Script
I am calling to ask (Senator's or Representative's name from above list) to call and urge members of the conference committee and leadership to keep the modernization of the Bottle Bill within the Climate Bill. Bottle bills save cities and towns money, keep litter off the street, reduce climate emissions, and promote true recycling. Commonwealth cities and towns would save over $26.7 million by redirecting recyclables away from expensive curbside collection systems and $206 million would be added to the Massachusetts economy.
  2. If you are in any of the following conference committee members' districts, please email and call them directly using the same script:
  • Senator Creem (Newton, Brookline, Wellesley): CALL 617-722-1639 and EMAIL: Cynthia.Creem@masenate.gov
  • Senator Barrett (Waltham, Carlisle, Lexington, Concord, Bedford, Chelmsford, and parts of Weston and Lincoln): CALL 617-722-1572 and EMAIL: Mike.Barrett@masenate.gov
  • Senator Bruce Tarr (Newburyport, Salisbury, W. Newbury, Newbury, Rowley, Ipswich, Essex, Gloucester, Rockport, Manchester, Wenham, Hamilton, Topsfield, Middleton, N. Reading, Boxford, Georgetown, Groveland): CALL (617) 722-1600 and EMAIL Bruce.Tarr@masenate.gov
  • Representative Jeff Roy (Franklin, Medway): CALL 617-722-2030 and EMAIL Jeffrey.Roy@mahouse.gov
