Tell Congress: Block $20 billion to Israel by supporting Senator Bernie Sanders’ Resolutions of Disapproval

Over the past year, the U.S. government spent over $22 billion helping Israel’s military commit war crimes in Palestine and Lebanon. Now we have a chance to block $20 billion more.

Our government is complicit in some of the greatest atrocities of our time, continually supporting Israel’s government as it violently displaces millions of people, burns families alive in refugee tents, systematically destroys Gaza’s healthcare system, and stops food and medical supplies from reaching thousands of starving Palestinian children. U.S. taxpayers funded 70% of Israel’s attacks in the past year, which have killed and injured at least 170,000 people in Palestine and Lebanon.

We cannot stand by while our tax dollars fuel this carnage. We must stop the flow of weapons.

To block the Biden administration’s recently announced weapons transfers, Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced Joint Resolutions of Disapproval. If passed, these resolutions would block new shipments of U.S.-made weapons and military equipment that have been used to kill children and other civilians in Palestine and Lebanon, including healthcare workers and journalists.

As Senator Senators explained, “Sending more weapons is not only immoral, it is also illegal.” Israel’s government is clearly violating international laws, which is why most countries in the United Nations have called to end arms shipments to Israel. Continued military aid violates not only international laws, but also U.S. laws, the Biden administration’s own arms transfer policy, and what the majority of Americans want.

Soon after Congress reconvenes in November, Senator Sanders will be able to force a floor vote in the Senate on whether to block new illegal weapons sales to Israel.
