Tell Congress: Stop the GOP plot to defund the IRS to protect wealthy and corporate tax cheats

Since 2010, congressional Republicans have slashed IRS funding, leading to delays in processing tax returns and refunds and allowing the richest 1% to avoid paying $160 billion in taxes each year that they owe.

Last year Democrats voted to invest $80 billion in the IRS over 10 years to crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats and help everyday taxpayers get faster refunds and their phone calls answered. Republicans in the House will vote soon to rip that funding away―so their wealthy and corporate donors can continue to avoid paying what they owe in taxes.

Add your name. Tell Congress to reject congressional Republicans first order of business: Protecting wealthy and corporate tax cheats by defunding the IRS!

To Congress:

Investments made by the Inflation Reduction Act will help modernize the IRS and crack down on wealthy and corporate tax cheats. I demand that you reject the Republican plan to defund the IRS, which would allow the richest 1% to continue to avoid paying $160 billion in taxes each year that they owe.
