The insurrection that occurred on January 6, 2021 is part of a long pattern of violence and white supremacy in this country that is threatened by a multiracial democracy and that will do anything to keep a hold onto power.

It’s no coincidence that most, if not all, of the Republicans who supported overturning the results of the election also support racist voter suppression laws. They know that they can’t win on their unpopular and bigoted policies, so they do everything in their power to spread disinformation and cheat their way to win. If necessary, as we saw on January 6th, they’re even willing to resort to violence.

Apparently, all of this is just fine with major corporations and PACs like AT&T, Toyota, and American Crystal Sugar. Corporate donors have given more than $16 million to the 147 members of the Sedition Caucus after January 6th.

These officials are a direct threat to our democracy and our way of life, but they couldn’t have gotten where they are if major corporations weren’t bankrolling them.

Corporations like AT&T and others cannot profess to care about democracy, women’s rights, and racial justice while at the same time funneling millions of dollars to elected officials and candidates who want to overturn our democracy and roll back the clock on decades of progress.

We must hold these corporations accountable and demand they stop funding insurrectionists who want to destroy our democracy.
