Tell media outlets: Stop running misleading fossil fuel industry ads about climate change.

The petition to media outlets reads: “Stop helping Big Oil spread lies about climate change.”

Have you ever found yourself deep into an article in your favorite publication only to realize later that it wasn't an article at all but rather an ad for a company? It's called "native advertising," a story made to look like an actual unbiased article from a reputable news source that is actually a paid advertisement that usually paints whatever industry or company is the focus of the piece in a flattering light.

The whole point of such ads is to fool us into believing we are reading about an important issue from a trusted news source to convince us to support a specific industry or company.

And unfortunately, it’s extremely prevalent among publications covering climate change, which frequently run misleading ads from some of the biggest polluters on the planet.

Sign the petition to big media companies: Stop running misleading ads about climate change from fossil fuel companies.
