Tell the Florida Republican Party: Stop the assault on voting rights

The petition to Florida Republicans reads: “Stop attacking the right to vote!”

"Chaos and confusion." That is what Florida election officials have said would be the consequences of a new law aimed at curtailing voting in the Sunshine State. The Republican-led Florida State Senate is on the precipice of passing SB 90, a bill that would cut back on vote-by-mail access and ban ballot drop boxes entirely.

Before Trump and the 2020 election, these were two voting methods actively promoted by the Florida Republican Party. But after the results of the 2020 election, both drew fire from Trump and his allies.

Now, Gov. Ron DeSantis — considered the next-best-thing to Trump among many Republicans — has decided vote-by-mail and drop boxes make it too easy to vote and should be restricted.

The right to vote is inalienable. Sign our petition and tell Florida Republicans to stop their efforts to restrict the vote.

These voting options are extremely popular among all Floridians. They make voting as easy as filling out your ballot from home and sending it off in the mail or dropping it at a local dropbox. The more accessible voting is, the more people are likely to do it — and therein lies the problem for Florida Republicans.

Like the host of other Republican-led states working overtime to pass voter restriction laws before the next election, the fact that millions of people headed to the polls in the Sunshine State was not taken as good news for Florida Republicans. But instead of molding their platform to fit their electorate, they have decided to push laws that would make the voting process harder.

Gov. DeSantis, who won his race by just 53,000 votes, knows that if he doesn't make voting more difficult, that 53,000 lead will likely not hold, and he will be sent packing. What DeSantis and the Florida Republicans are engaged is an assault on Floridians' rights to vote – and it must be stopped.

Sign our petition and demand that the Florida GOP stop making it harder to vote for Floridians.
