The House of Representatives just passed a terrifying bill to let Donald Trump and his administration take away an organization's nonprofit status. And, shockingly, 15 Democrats voted for it.

If the bill passes in the Senate and becomes law, Trump's Treasury Secretary could issue what amounts to a death penalty to any nonprofit organization that displeases Trump—including us—by labeling the group as "terrorist supporting."

No due process … No meaningful appeals procedure … The bill doesn't even require the Trump administration to provide evidence or an explanation.

Every nonprofit organization in the country is now in danger of Trump's wrath.

If this bill becomes law, it would devastate nonprofit organizations. Advocacy organizations demanding accountability, fighting for justice, and working to build a better future could be shuttered. Nonprofits protecting voting rights, defending the environment, and standing up for marginalized communities could be wiped out overnight.

But we can still stop the bill in the Senate, if we take action right now.

Since we started sounding the alarm, along with a broad coalition of nonprofits, most Democrats have come out against this terrible bill. We must make it clear to Senate Democrats that this bill must be blocked.
