Tell the Senate: Convict and disqualify Trump

The petition to the Senate reads:

"Convict Trump and stop him from holding future office."

Donald Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be impeached twice. The Senate will now hold an impeachment trial. And even though the trial won’t happen until Trump is already out of office, it could still have the effect of preventing him from running for president again.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is reportedly open to the possibility of convicting Trump and stopping him from holding office again. And Sen. Lisa Murkowski said it would be “appropriate ... given what we have seen from his actions and his failure to uphold the Constitution.”

Trump incited his mob to riot and storm the Capitol Building because he lost the election. And while white nationalists overtook the Capitol, leading to five deaths and threatening the lives of many more, Trump posted a video proclaiming to the insurrectionists that “I love you and you are all very special.”

Now, according to a new poll from the Washington Post and ABC News, 56 percent of Americans – including 89 percent of Democrats – support convicting Trump and preventing him from ever holding office in the future. Enough is enough. Trump is dangerous – and we must ensure he never holds office again.
