Tenant Unions
Do you know what a Tenants Union is? It's an organization formed by and led by renters to advocate for our collective interests and rights. These unions can be building, neighborhood, or city-based. Building-based unions comprise tenants who reside in the same building or have the same landlord. On the other hand, neighborhood and city-based tenant unions are networks of renters who often share common issues and stand in solidarity, even though they may have different landlords or live in different buildings.
The Right to Organize regulations define a “legitimate” tenants association as a group that “meets regularly, operates democratically, is representative of all tenants in the development, and completely independent of owners and their agents.
