Tungsten West Secondary Aggregate Planning Application
Mine owners Tungsten West have submitted a pre-planning application proposing to export secondary aggregate from the mine.
Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2017 Variation of Condition 19 to extant planning permission 9/42/49/0542/85/3 to provide for an increase in the number of heavy goods vehicles transporting waste or secondary aggregate leaving Hemerdon Mine daily to not exceed 200 in any one day at Hemerdon Mine, Plympton, Devon, PL7 5BS

Here is a summary of the main issues.
- Scope of application:- to increase the no of trucks loaded out of the mine site with aggregates to 200 loaded HGV’s per day (400 HGV movements), which is equivalent to circa 1,500,000 tonnes per annum an increase from the existing limit of 150,000 tonnes per annum. An increase by a factor of 10.
Update
Following a number of detailed consultation responses DCC have requested additional information from the applicant, Tungsten West. As of 25/10/22 there has been no further response from the applicant.
When/if when DCC recieve anything back the application will need to be re-advertised for consultation before the application goes to the DCC planning committee for a decision.
